This has always been one of my favorite guitar solos.

Use D Mixolydian to improvise.
I played main album version solo here and then improvised the rest.
A Santana groove based on Oye Como Va.
I played my solo here using the A Dorian mode.
A Minor Pentatonic will work too, but it will be missing that
Santana flavor provided by the extra 2nd and 6th notes.
Southern Rock style song in the Key of D.
I played my solo here using the D Mixolydian mode.
The chord progression is: D C G D
I used the Les Paul and PODxt.

I played the solo in D major pentatonic.
I used a Tele that I built. Plugged into Line6 PODxt.
The arpeggio rhythm comes from a digital delay that is
repeating in time with the single note picking.
Major melodic rock. I played the solo in here G Major pentatonic
with the addition of a 4th(C).
The chords are G D Am G D C
I used my Fender Tele Plus, plugged into my Fender Concert
(1x12) and mic'd with a Shure SM57. Also using a BOSS
distortion pedal.
Jazz style chord progression I borrowed
from my ace student Kendall Day.
I used Eb Lydian mode for this solo.
Chords: EbMaj7 D7 Gm7 Fm7 Bb7
Eb Lydian is the 4th mode of the Bb
Major scale.
I played this solo on my Les Paul.
